What is Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik?

Dinner in the Sky is a concept that originated in Brussels, Belgium in 2006 and has since expanded to over 60 countries worldwide. It’s a unique experience where guests dine on a specially designed platform suspended 50 metres in the air, held up by a large crane – far from your typical restaurant setting.

Despite the name, it isn’t limited to dinner. There are three sittings each day: lunch, evening, and sunset dinner. Guests are seated around the chefs, who prepare and serve food in the centre of the platform, creating an interactive experience alongside the impressive 360-degree views.

Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik is located around a 15-minute drive from the Old Town and the meeting point is inside the lobby of the Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel. From there, it’s just a short walk to the dining platform.

Is Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik Worth It?

I loved my experience at Dinner in the Sky in Dubrovnik, and I genuinely think it’s worth the price. It’s one of those rare, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that feels far more like an activity than just a meal.

You’ll get incredible views over Dubrovnik and the coastline, but what really stood out to me was the sunset experience. I booked the sunset dinner, which is a little more expensive but watching the golden light reflect over the ocean and mountains as the sun went down was absolutely worth it. It made it feel even more special.

If you are celebrating a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary or honeymoon – or simply looking for something unique to do in Dubrovnik, this feels like much more than just dinner and is an experience you’ll remember long after your trip.

That said, it is expensive, so if you’re travelling on a tight budget, you’ll need to be realistic about the cost. I also wouldn’t recommend it if you’re afraid of heights. While I felt completely safe (and I’ll cover more on safety below), you are up very high and it’s impossible not to look down. A few people in the group were a little nervous before going up, but once the experience started, they relaxed and really enjoyed it.

If you’re planning your Dubrovnik itinerary and considering Dinner in the Sky, I’d recommend checking availability for your dates below – sunset slots tend to book out quickly.

What It’s Like to Experience Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik

The Dinner in the Sky experience starts in the lobby of Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel, where you check in at a dedicated desk. Once all the guests have arrived, you take a short walk over to the dining platform.

You feel the excitement building as soon as you see the platform and the crane it’s attached to, ready to lift you into the sky. On arrival, you have the chance to enjoy a drink before being called one by one to your seat to be strapped in. Once everyone is safely secured, it’s time for take-off and you’re raised 50 metres into the air

As soon as you’re up, you can fully take in the incredible 360-degree views over Dubrovnik and the coastline. The platform is rotated throughout the experience by the crew below, so you get a different perspective the whole time and don’t miss anything. They do it very gently, it actually took me a while to realise there was a rope attached and they were slowly repositioning us.

The food is absolutely delicious, and seeing it prepared right in front of you by the chefs in the centre of the platform really adds to the experience. They also do a great job of creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere with the music, photos and plenty of interaction. There’s only 22 guests per session, it feels quite intimate and social, we even sang happy birthday to one of the guests who was celebrating.

The total experience lasts for 1.5 – 2 hours, depending on which session you book. I did the sunset dinner, which lasted just over 2 hours and was perfectly timed for the sunset views.

If this is something you’d love to experience, you can check availability for your dates.

Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik Menu: What to Expect

I honestly didn’t have high expectations of the food, as I assumed the focus would be more on the novelty of having dinner in the sky rather than the meal itself, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was genuinely delicious and of a high standard

After purchasing your tickets, you’ll need to pre-select your menu, choosing from meat, fish or vegetarian options, as everything is prepared in advance and brought up to the platform.

The lunch and dinner sessions include a 3-course meal, while the evening experience offers a 4-course regional tasting menu. All experiences are paired with unlimited Croatian wine.

How Much is Dinner in the Sky in Dubrovnik?

It’s definitely one of the more expensive activities in Dubrovnik, with prices ranging from around 100€ – 195€ per person. The cost varies depending on the season and time slot, with the sunset session being the most expensive – but also the most popular and, in my experience, absolutely worth it.

Included in the price is a three or four-course meal, unlimited Croatian wine, a welcome drink, and of course the once-in-a-lifetime experience of dining on a platform suspended 50 metres above Dubrovnik.

If this sounds like something you’d love to experience in Dubrovnik, you can check availability and see current prices for your dates below.

How to Book Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik

First, you’ll need to choose which session you’d like to attend: lunch, evening, or sunset dinner.

I highly recommend booking in advance, as each session is limited to just 22 guests due to the size of the platform. It is a popular experience and does sell out quickly in peak season, especially the sunset spots.

I booked my experience on GetYourGuide, which offers flexible booking and free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.

Is Dinner in the Sky Safe?

I felt completely safe during my Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik experience. When you first arrive and check in at the lobby, you’re given information to read and sign, followed by a safety briefing before heading up.

Before getting onto the platform, you’re called up individually so the staff can seat you and securely fasten your harness. The seats are actually race car style seats with a four-point harness, leaving you feeling very secure and locked in. Fun fact: you can also recline the seats back slightly, like a car seat, if you want a bit of an extra thrill.

The launch itself was very smooth and steady, the platform didn’t sway around at all. Once we were up there, it actually took me a while to notice that it was being gently rotated by the crew using a large rope below.

Nothing ever felt rushed, and all the staff were attentive and in control throughout the entire experience. Even at 50 metres in the air, I never once felt unsafe.

Tips for Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik (Before You Go)

If you’re planning to do Dinner in the Sky Dubrovnik, here are a few tips to help you prepare and make the most of your experience.

Arrive early
Give yourself plenty of time to check in and complete the paperwork before the experience starts. You’ll also have time to relax and use the toilet beforehand (see below). This isn’t like walking into a restaurant – if you’re late you’ll miss the experience.

Use the toilet beforehand
Once you’re strapped in and lifted 50 metres into the air, you won’t be able to leave the platform, so definitely use the bathroom before you’re called up.

Dress comfortably and securely
Wear clothes you’ll be comfortable sitting in for a couple of hours. Make sure everything is secure, and opt for closed shoes rather than anything loose or easy to slip off. One woman in our group lost an earring that dropped down, so it’s worth being mindful of anything small or loose.

Don’t overpack
There’s limited space on the table in front of you, so be mindful of what you bring with you as there’s no room for big bags or bulky items. Plus you don’t want to be dropping anything.

Bring a light layer (especially for sunset)
It can be cooler once you’re up in the air, so if you think you might get cold, it’s best to bring a light layer. Particularly once the sun goes down and the temperature drops.

Secure your phone/camera
You’ll definitely want to take photos, but make sure your phone is firmly held or strapped, you don’t want to drop it when you’re 50 metres up.

Don’t stress about heights (if you’re nervous)
If you’re slightly afraid of heights, it’s worth knowing that the experience feels very stable once you’re up there, and most people relax within a few minutes and start enjoying it.
